Sprig Support

Last updated: September 6, 2026

This is where you get help with Sprig, and where the questions that come up most already have an answer. Sprig is operated by Muhammad Haris Siddiqui. The app is Sprig — Recipe Manager (com.sprigapp.recipes on Google Play, Sprig Recipes on the App Store).

Sprig is local-first and an account is optional, so a lot of what people write in about turns out to be something you can settle on your own device in a few seconds — the four fixes below cover most of it. If yours is not one of them, write to us. The address is real, and it is answered by the person who built the app.

Get help

Fastest — from inside the app

1. In Sprig

Open Sprig and go to Settings → Help → Email support.

Prefer this one if you have the app in front of you: it opens your mail app with your Sprig version and your OS already filled in, so the first reply can be an answer instead of a question about which version you are on.

No app needed

2. By email

If you cannot open the app, or you have not installed it yet, write to us directly:

haris.sidd786@gmail.com — subject “Sprig support”

Four things make a first reply useful rather than a round of questions:

When you'll hear back

Sprig is built and supported by one person, so here is a real expectation rather than a support-desk promise: a first reply within 2 business days, and always within 5. Email is the only support channel — there is no phone line and no live chat.

Account deletion and privacy requests are completed and confirmed by reply within 30 days, normally within a few days — the same commitment as the account deletion page.

Before you write

These four come up more than everything else combined, and all four are faster to do than to ask about.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Sprig is local-first: every feature works signed out, and your library lives on your device. Signing in with Apple or Google is only for backing that library up and syncing it to your other devices — see what syncs.

Does Sprig work offline?

Yes. Your recipes, your meal plan, your grocery list, timers and cook mode all run on the device, with no signal and no account — the same thing Settings → Help tells you in the app.

What needs a connection is anything that has to reach outside your phone: importing a new recipe from a link or a photo, the optional AI features, and — if you are signed in — syncing. Everything already saved is readable and cookable on a plane.

Which links can I import from?

Paste a link from most recipe sites and Sprig reads the page directly. If a page holds no readable recipe, Sprig says so and offers you a paste box rather than guessing at one. The cases people ask about most:

Some large recipe sites block apps outright at their firewall, and some need a login. Sprig names that when it happens; the fix is the same as above — copy the recipe text and paste it.

An import failed. What now?

Copy the recipe text and paste it, or photograph the page — both routes give you the same recipe in your library. Then send us the link: import failures are per-site, and a link is what lets us look at the actual page rather than theorise about it.

How accurate are the AI features?

The AI features are optional and opt-in. Sprig asks before anything is sent, and tells you what is sent and where — the provider is OpenAI. The rest of the app works fully without them.

AI output is generated, and it can be wrong. It can invent an ingredient, misread a quantity or miss something. Check it against the original recipe before you cook.

Never treat it as an allergy or medical check. Sprig cannot know what is in the products you buy. If you have an allergy or a medical condition, read every label yourself and follow your doctor's guidance, not this app — the same warning Sprig shows on the suggestions themselves and in the Terms of Use.

What is free, and what does Premium add?

The meal planner, the grocery list, cook mode, offline use and exporting your library are in the free version and are not limited. What Premium changes:

FreeSprig Premium
3 recipe imports a week Unlimited imports
3 cookbooks of your own Unlimited cookbooks
10 AI actions a week, shared across all the AI features — an action that sends a photo counts as two Unlimited AI actions
Banner ads, and one full-screen ad after you finish cooking No ads anywhere in the app

Importing does not spend an AI action — imports have their own weekly count, and most pages are read without AI at all. Both weekly allowances reset on their own at the start of each week (Monday); there is nothing to reset and nothing to ask us for.

Premium is $4.99 a month, $39.99 a year, or $99.99 once for a lifetime purchase. Those are the US prices — the price for your country is always the one shown in the app before you buy.

I paid and Premium didn't unlock.

Tap Restore purchases on the Sprig paywall first. It re-reads the purchase from Apple or Google, which is what turns Premium on, and it fixes this in most cases — including a reinstall or a new device on the same store account.

If it does not, email us. We cannot see your payment — purchases go through Apple and Google, never through us — but we will help you sort it out with the store.

How do I cancel?

Not in Sprig: subscriptions are cancelled in your Apple Account settings or your Google Play subscriptions. From inside the app, Settings → Membership → Manage subscription opens that store sheet for you.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. A lifetime purchase is a one-time purchase, so there is nothing to cancel.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by us — we have no ability to issue, reverse or expedite one. Request it through the store you bought from. If a refund was refused and you think that was wrong, write to us anyway and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do about it.

How do I get my recipes out of Sprig?

Settings → Your data → Export my recipes. Sprig writes one file — sprig-recipes-2026-09-06.json, dated the day you export — holding every recipe, cookbook, meal-plan entry and grocery item, and hands it to the share sheet so you can put it in Files, a drive, or an email to yourself. No account needed.

Two limits, stated plainly so you are not surprised later. That file is a copy to keep and to read: Sprig has no “restore from a backup file” button yet, so it is not a way of loading your library back into the app. And photos you attached yourself are referenced, not embedded — the file names them but the images themselves stay on your device.

I have two devices. What syncs?

Sign in with Apple or Google on both, and your recipes, cookbooks, meal plan, grocery list and pantry follow you between them.

Photos you attached yourself do not. They live on the device that took them, and a synced recipe falls back to its emoji tile on your other device. Photos that came in with an imported recipe are web images and show up everywhere. Syncing your own photos is a real feature we have not built yet, not a bug to report.

Signed out, none of your library is on our server — no recipes, no plan, no grocery list, nothing carrying your name. One thing is worth stating rather than rounding down to nothing: if you use an AI feature, that request goes through a relay we run, and the relay keeps a salted one-way hash of your IP address with a request count for 7 days, purely so a single caller cannot drain our OpenAI budget. It holds no content, cannot be turned back into an IP address, and is not tied to you or to anything you saved. That is the whole of it, and the Privacy Policy sets out the arrangement in full.

I'm moving to a new phone.

Sign in on the old phone first, then sign in on the new one with the same Apple or Google account. That is the migration route, and it brings across your recipes, cookbooks, meal plan, grocery list and pantry.

Two things it does not bring: the photos you attached yourself (see above — they stay on the old device, so copy any you care about out of it before it goes), and anything you added while signed out on a device that never synced.

The export file is worth taking as a readable record of your library, but it is not a way to move in: there is no import-a-backup path, so exporting is not a substitute for signing in.

One Android note: the system's own automatic backup can copy app data to your Google account and restore it on a reinstall. That backup belongs to Google and your device, not to us — you can turn it off in Android Settings → Google → Backup.

Why am I seeing ads, and what do they collect?

The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob — banners, and one full-screen ad after you finish cooking. Premium removes them entirely.

Where the law requires it — in the UK, the EEA and applicable US states — Sprig asks for your consent choices before serving personalised ads, and on iOS it asks for App Tracking Transparency permission. You can change those choices later in Sprig's own Settings → Ad privacy (shown in exactly those regions) and in your device settings. What is collected for ads is described in the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account and my data?

Settings → Account → Delete account deletes the account, the synced library on our server, and the library on that device, in one step. If you no longer have the app, email us from the address you signed in with. Both routes, and a full table of what is deleted and what the stores keep, are on the account deletion page.

If you never signed in, there is no account to delete and no library of yours on our server — removing the app removes it. The AI relay's rate-limit counters are the one exception, and they expire on their own after 7 days; see above.

Report a problem with an AI result

If an AI suggestion was wrong, unsafe or offensive, tell us — this is the one kind of report we cannot generate for ourselves.

Every screen that shows you AI output carries a report link underneath it. Healthier swaps, allergen swaps, the spice adjustment, a pantry read from a photo, the ideas on the Kitchen tab, and any recipe Sprig wrote or changed for you — all six. Its wording follows whatever is on that screen rather than being one phrase everywhere, so look for the small link below the suggestions rather than for a particular label.

Tapping it asks what was wrong and lets you add a note, then opens an email addressed to us with the report already written: the exact AI output, and what it was generated from. That is worth much more to us than a description of it — it is what lets us reproduce the thing you saw. Nothing is sent until you send that email, so if your mail app does not open, nothing has reached us and it is worth writing to us the other way.

Reporting from outside the app works too — write to haris.sidd786@gmail.com. No particular subject line is needed. Tell us what you asked for and what came back, and include a screenshot if you have one: a report sent from inside the app arrives with the AI output attached, and one written from here does not.

Privacy, terms and account deletion

Privacy Policy — what Sprig stores, what leaves your device, and what the ads collect.

Terms of Use — accounts, Premium billing and renewal, the AI features, and the limits of what Sprig is.

Delete your account — both routes, and exactly what is deleted.
